4 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Use Send My Bag

First off, I would like to say that I’m simply sharing my experience with Send My Bag. I’m sure other’s experiences have been just fine. I know this, because I’ve talked to some of these people.

When everything goes right, I’m sure they work great. But when things go wrong, it becomes a very different story. Here’s why you shouldn’t use Send My Bag.

  1. Lack of communication – When you are moving to another country, the stress level is already super high. So when you are having a problem and the shipping company takes a minimum of twenty-four hours to respond to your emails, it can quickly become even more stressful. Their lackadaisical approach to responding to emails is both frustrating and frankly, unprofessional.
  2. Lack of phone support – If they had a readily available phone number for support that you could call 24/7 (which a business like this really needs), it wouldn’t be so bad. But it took me some time to even locate a phone number. I had to download the app to locate it. (more on that below). When I did finally get a phone number in the States, I got a message saying they didn’t open until noon. What kind of business doesn’t open until noon?
  3. They don’t actually ship your things – On their website, it looks as if they are a full shipping company with their own transport. But a van with “Send My Bag” did not show up to pick up my shipment. A DHL van did. So it’s DHL that does the actual shipping. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, just something to note that feels a tiny bit deceptive.
  4. A pointless app – They give you an app to download where you can track your shipment. However, not only does the app not allow you to perform certain functions (you have to log into their website for things like uploading documents), but it simply regurgitates the information that DHL posts about your shipment.

So there’s my list. It’s been nearly 2 weeks and my luggage still has not arrived. I swear, when and if it finally does arrive, I’m throwing away the clothes I have been wearing over and over and over again. I never want to see them again!

My Luggage Route

In case you’re wondering why shipping costs so much, here is the exact route my luggage has taken. I has seen more of Europe than I have at this point. It should have it’s own passport and travel blog!

Boston —> New York —> Cincinnati —> New York —> Brussels —> Leipzig —> Brussels —> Leipsig —> Madrid —> Leipsig —> Madrid —> Leipsig —> Brussels —> Barcelona —> Madrid —> Leipsig —> Alicante —> Vitoria —> Alicante —> Vitoria —> Alicante.

I sincerely hope they partied in Leipsig and grabbed some tapas in Vitoria. Now, if they could only make it to me!
